Along with being NAEYC Accredited, having a hardworking diverse staff and providing top-quality childcare, Mount Carmel Guild Cares one of the premiere childcare programs in the Historic North Ward of Newark, N.J. We provide an important service to families in shaping and molding their children, as well as giving them memories that will last forever.

Our certified teachers and experienced staff believe that learning is a life long process. We believe that the care we provide directly affects the child’s development at a critical time in their lives. We believe that we have a great influence and importance in shaping who the child will become. We take our responsibility seriously. We strive to continue learning and growing so that we can nurture our children in a warm, loving, and peaceful environment.
Program Description: Catholic Charities, MCG Cares is fully accredited by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), the nation’s largest and most influential organization of early childhood educators dedicated to improving the quality of programs for young children.
MCG Cares provides top-quality early-childhood care in a safe, secure, loving environment for children who are 3 and 4 years old. Open Monday through Friday, 10 hours a day, the program is designed to meet the needs of working parents.
The Mount Carmel Guild Cares Center fosters the development of preschool children in emotional, physical, social and academic areas through an environment conducive to growth and learning.
Our certified and experienced staff recognizes individual learning styles and optimizes child development, learning, problem-solving, and socialization skills through the Creative Curriculum, which is based on sound developmental theory and evidence based research.
The MCG Cares teaching staff is trained in First Aid and is CPR-certified.
MCG Cares works in collaboration with the Newark Board of Education to offer a six hour educational program and with Program for Parents to offer before and after care services free of charge to parents meeting the eligibility guidelines.
