With the advent of the Distance Learning Program here at the Mount Carmel Guild Schools, video conferencing allows for students and teachers alike who might never meet physically, yet study together, to meet virtually, face to face over video.
With video conferencing and distance learning, and the instructional tools that are now used with it, students can now have access to information at a moment’s notice. The Mount Carmel Guild School’s distance learning program enables students and staff the opportunity for a learning experience once thought to be unachievable because of limitations through technology.
There are many examples of distance learning sessions. Listed are examples of some of the virtual field trips that took place at the following facilities this year: The Liberty Science Center, with their lesson based on "Electricity". The Newark Museum with their program on "19th Century European Art." and also The North Carolina Museum of History with their program on the "Native American Tribes of North Carolina". The future is here, and we as educators are proud to be a part of it!
